P5 is for photographers whose aesthetic is explicitly retro and nostalgic — where the faded, aged quality is the deliberate visual statement rather than a side effect of the film look.
For photographers shooting intentional retro content, vintage-aesthetic lifestyle photography, and any work where the fully faded quality communicates the intended atmosphere.
-
The faded quality is maximum and authentic. P5 pushes the Polaroid fade to its most extreme point — the result reads as genuinely old rather than obviously filtered.
It is the most distinctive preset in the archive. P5's heavy fade creates the most immediately recognisable vintage instant film quality — photographs look like they were taken in another era.
It suits retro content specifically. For photography that wants to feel like it was taken decades ago, P5 provides the most complete expression of that aesthetic.

This preset captures the bold, high-contrast aesthetic similar to the legendary P5 filters. It’s the perfect professional alternative for those wanting an analog-inspired look that feels "heavy" and vibrant. By emulating the look of premium instant film developed with extra saturation, the P5 ensures your digital shots have a polished, gallery-ready finish.
-
Step 1 — White balance first. P5's maximum fade requires a warm starting point — 5,400-5,800K before applying. On neutral or cool white balance, the heavy fade can read as grey and washed rather than warmly faded. The warmth in the white balance is what keeps P5's maximum fade feeling organic rather than flat.
Step 2 — Apply P5 Faded Instant. The maximum fade, heavily lifted black point, muted colour, and grain apply simultaneously.
Step 3 — Adjust Exposure per photo. P5's very light shadow floor can make photos appear brighter than intended. If the result looks too bright, reduce Exposure -0.1 to -0.2 to restore the faded depth.
Portrait photography with P5: P5's heavy fade flattens skin presence significantly. Add Orange Luminance +12 to +15 after applying to restore skin visibility within the heavily faded palette. A Radial Gradient on the face with Exposure +0.1 can also help lift the subject against the faded background.
On phone photos: 80-82% strength. The heavy fade of P5 at full strength on phone photos can produce a washed-out quality — the slight reduction maintains the faded character without going completely flat.

Is P5 too faded for most photography? P5 is calibrated for deliberately retro content where maximum fade is the aesthetic goal. For everyday photography or portrait work, P1, P2, or P3 produce more balanced and flattering results. P5 is a specialist preset for a specific aesthetic direction.
What is the difference between P5 and P9 Deep Vintage? P5 is maximum fade — lifted blacks and muted colour with the emphasis on lightness and fade. P9 is maximum vintage depth — rich, deep amber tones with more character and warmth. P5 for washed-out nostalgic fade, P9 for rich deep vintage quality.
