The only cool-leaning preset in the Polaroid Instant Archive. A slight blue-green cast that references the specific character of cooler Polaroid film emulsions — distinctive, unusual, and specifically suited to overcast outdoor, coastal, and editorial instant film photography.

P7 is the exception in the Polaroid Instant Archive. Where every other preset leans warm, P7 has a slight blue-green cast that references the colour science of certain cooler Polaroid emulsions — SX-70 film in particular had a more neutral to cool character compared to the warm yellow of Polaroid 600. The lifted blacks remain — this is still instant film photography — but the warmth is replaced by a cool, slightly cyan quality that makes P7 immediately distinctive from the rest of the collection. For photographers who want instant film character in a cool ambient context, or who want the recognisable organic quality of instant photography without its characteristic warmth.

  • P7 is for photographers who shoot in cool and overcast conditions and want instant film character that complements rather than fights the ambient — a preset where the cool quality is the selling point rather than something to be corrected.

For editorial and fashion photographers who want the organic, slightly imperfect quality of instant film applied in a cool, considered register.

  • It is the only cool instant film option. Of the nine presets, P7 is the sole cool direction — providing instant film character for photographers who shoot in cool and overcast conditions where the warm presets feel mismatched.

The blue-green cast is calibrated to a real film emulsion. P7's cool quality references the specific character of SX-70 film rather than simply removing warmth — the result has the organic, slightly unusual quality of a real film stock.

It pairs with the warm presets for complete coverage. Warm conditions get P2. Cool and overcast conditions get P7. The same archive handles both.

  • This preset captures the rich, warm aesthetic similar to the legendary P7 filters. It’s the perfect professional alternative for those wanting an analog-inspired look that feels "luminous" and cozy. By emulating the color shift of instant film reacting to warm ambient temperatures, the P7 ensures your digital shots have a polished, golden finish that feels like a classic summer film.

  • Step 1 — White balance. Unlike the warm Polaroid presets, P7 does not require a warm starting point. Set white balance to match the scene naturally — 5,200-5,800K for daylight, 5,800-6,400K for overcast and cool conditions. P7's cool character complements the ambient rather than fighting it.

Step 2 — Apply P7 Cool Instant. The cool blue-green cast, lifted black point, and organic instant film grain apply simultaneously.

Step 3 — Adjust Exposure per photo. P7 handles the cool instant film identity. Exposure correction handles the per-photo brightness differences.

Portrait photography with P7: the cool direction creates an editorial, more neutral skin quality. For warm, flattering skin tones, P1 or P3 are more appropriate. For editorial portrait photography where a cool, distinctive quality is intentional — fashion, contemporary lifestyle — P7 at 82% works well with Orange Luminance +8 to keep skin present.

Coastal and overcast photography: P7 is at its best in cool coastal and overcast environments. The blue-green character references the ambient sky light in these conditions, making the instant film quality feel inherent to the location.

    On phone photos: 83-85% strength.

  • What film stock does P7 reference? P7's blue-green quality references the cooler emulsion character of certain SX-70 film stocks, which had a more neutral to cool colour science compared to the warm yellow of Polaroid 600. The slightly cyan cast is authentic to this specific film rather than a creative invention.

Does P7 work for street photography? Yes — P7's cool, organic, slightly unusual quality suits the documentary and editorial register of street photography. The cool instant film character references the tradition of film street photography in a distinctive way.
