P8 is for lifestyle and outdoor photographers who shoot in bright conditions and want instant film character applied brightly — photographers whose visual identity is built around light, airy photography that benefits from warmth and organic quality without any darkness.
For photographers who find every other instant film preset too dark or too characterful for their content.
-
It is the only bright instant film option. Of the nine presets, P8 is the sole high-key direction — instant film quality for photographers who want brightness and warmth rather than the vintage darkness of most of the collection.
The warmth reads as sunlit rather than filtered. P8's combination of lifted shadows and warm instant quality references actual bright-condition Polaroid photography where over-exposure created a luminous quality.
It suits summer and bright outdoor photography specifically. P8's brightness and warmth work in direct outdoor conditions where darker presets feel heavy and mismatched.

This preset captures the raw, textured aesthetic similar to the legendary P8 filters. It’s the perfect professional alternative for those wanting an analog-inspired look that feels "gritty" and real. By emulating the look of high-ISO instant film, the P8 ensures your digital shots have a polished, "art-house" finish that celebrates the beauty of film grain.

Step 1 — White balance first. P8 assumes a warm starting point — 5,000-5,400K for bright outdoor daylight. The high-key bright quality reads most naturally when white balance is warm-neutral to slightly warm. Avoid over-warming before applying — P8 already adds significant brightness and warmth.
Step 2 — Apply P8 High Key Instant. The elevated brightness, warm instant quality, and film grain apply simultaneously.
Step 3 — Adjust Exposure per photo. P8 is calibrated bright — start at Exposure 0 and reduce slightly (-0.1 to -0.15) if the result appears over-bright on specific photos. The bright starting point of P8 means well-lit photos need less additional exposure than darker presets.
Portrait photography with P8: P8's bright, warm quality produces luminous skin in outdoor bright conditions. For close-up portraits, check Highlights after applying — P8's elevated brightness can push bright skin highlights close to clipping. Add Highlights -10 to -15 if skin highlights read too bright.
On phone photos: 85-87% strength. Phone cameras produce consistently well-exposed outputs that work naturally with P8's bright character.

What is the difference between P8 and P1? P1 is warm and subtly vintage at a balanced, normal brightness. P8 is significantly brighter — the high-key elevation is the defining characteristic alongside the warm instant film quality. P1 for balanced subtle vintage, P8 for deliberately bright, luminous instant film content.
Does P8 work for beach and outdoor summer photography? Yes — P8 is specifically well-suited to beach and bright outdoor summer photography. The bright warmth references the luminous quality of Polaroid photography in direct sun, and the lifted shadow floor creates the specific washed-warmth quality of outdoor instant photography.
