What do you do with the photos you didn't cull?
When we cull wedding photos we work with a system in Lightroom called: Smart Preview Catalog. With this system you can easily send out thousands of photos within minutes by sending them over with WeTransfer or FromSmash. We don’t have your actual RAW files on our computers, only the Smart Previews.
All the photos will still be in the same catalog after culling, the ones that didn’t make the final cull will be flagged down or get a mark so you will instantly know what photos made it to the final selection.
If you do send out all your original RAW files with FromSmash, we do get your original RAW files on our systems. We will cull all the photos and will keep them up to 2 or 3 weeks after delivery. When we have delivered the culling to you (we will only send back the photos that made the final selection), we will delete everything from our systems. So make sure to backup your photos and system to prevent any loss of photos.
We are at no point responsible for loss of photos.
How long do you keep the culled photos?
After we have culled al your photos, we usually keep the culled photos for around 2 or 3 weeks on our system. This is to guarantee that everything is right and done for you or if you need any changes to the culling. After 2 or 3 weeks we will delete your files so there will be no trace of the photos after that time. We are at no point responsible for loss of photos, so make sure to back up your wedding photos.
Do you also back up my culled photos?
We don’t back up any photos of our clients, we can do so if you’re abroad for a longer period of time, but we are at no point responsible for loss of photos.
When we have culled and made a selection of your wedding photos, we usually save your culled photos for around 2 or 3 weeks after delivery. This is to make sure that if you have feedback or need some changes to the culling, we can easily do them without any hassle. After 2 or 3 weeks we usually delete every file, so nothing is in our systems from then except for our TimeMachines. Make sure to always backup your photos and photo selections when you receive them from The Editing Studio. We do have backups but are at no point responsible for loss of photos.

We have made a list of a few benefits of outsourcing your photo editing to a photo editing service.
How do you know my style of photo culling?
Photo culling can be really great for you to release some pressure of your shoulders during the busy wedding season a photographer have. That’s why outsourcing photo culling is a great way to release some pressure.
We always try our best to cull your photos as good as possible, we know how hard it can be to kill your darlings. When you subscribe to one of our ‘photo culling plans’, you will receive a form where you can tell us how you would like your photos getting culled and what you pay attention to the most in your photography.
The hard part of culling photos for a photo editing service is that we were not at the event. We don’t know how the wedding was like, if there was something really special or someone who is very ill and probably needs some extra photos etc.
That’s why we also will send you a special form with each wedding you want to outsource for culling to tell us these special events, so that we know what to focus on, so we don’t miss a thing. Also, since photo culling is so special and personal, we use a 10% extra rule.
If you want to reduce your photo culling from 5000 photos to 500 photos, the maximum amount of photos you will receive back from us is 550 photos. We use this rule because we rather have you throw away a few photos yourself than have a hard time looking for it in 5000 photos.
What software do you use for culling photos?
We use different software for culling photos. It really depends on how you’re going to deliver your photos for culling to us. We cull photos with Lightroom and PhotoMechanic. The easiest way to get your photos to us for culling is by creating a Smart Preview Catalog in Lightroom. This way you can send thousands of photo for both culling and editing in a few minutes by uploading to the cloud. We really recommend this way because this is by far the easiest and fastest way.
If you don’t use Lightroom and have a good internet connection, you might consider uploading your photos with FromSmash. When we receive and have downloaded all your RAW files we’re going to cull your photos in PhotoMechanic.
While PhotoMechanic is way more advanced and faster for culling photos, it is way harder to get around 100GB of wedding photos to us overnight. That’s why we really recommend you using a Lightroom Smart Preview Catalog for outsourcing your photo culling.
