When Film Simulations Are Enough
If you shoot JPEG, share directly from the camera or phone, and are happy with the results, film simulations are sufficient. They are well designed, they were built by a company with a century of film manufacturing behind them, and they produce results faster than any editing workflow can.

Highlight and shadow recovery. JPEG simulations bake in the tonal decisions at capture. If highlights clipped, they are permanently gone. A look the simulations do not offer. Fujifilm's simulations are a fixed set, however good. If your visual identity requires something outside that set, RAW editing is the only path to it.
What X100VI RAW Files Actually Look Like
Without a film simulation applied, X100VI RAW files in Lightroom are relatively neutral. This surprises photographers who assume the Fujifilm character lives in the sensor. It lives largely in the JPEG processing pipeline.
