How to Organize Presets on Mobile — Lightroom Mobile Guide (2026)
A large preset library in Lightroom Mobile without organization becomes unusable. Scrolling through 50 presets to find the right one defeats the purpose of having presets. This guide shows you how to organize your Lightroom Mobile presets into a system that makes the right preset findable in under 10 seconds.
How to create a preset group in Lightroom Mobile
In the editing panel, tap Presets
Tap the three dots at the top right of the Presets panel
Tap "New Group"
Name the group and confirm
Your presets can now be organized into this folder.
How to move a preset to a group
Long press the preset you want to move
Select "Move to Group"
Choose the destination group
How to rename a preset
Long press the preset
Select "Rename"
Enter the new name
Recommended organization system
Rather than organizing by collection name (Analog Film Archive, Moody Film Archive), organize by use case. This is faster to navigate when editing:
Folder: Everyday Your 2-3 most used presets. A6, V1, or whichever presets you reach for on 80% of photos.
Folder: Portrait Portrait-specific presets. G1, G2, E6. Anything with specific skin tone calibration.
Folder: Warm / Outdoor Golden hour and warm outdoor presets. C7, V5, A4.
Folder: Moody Atmospheric and dark presets. M4, M5, V4.
Folder: B&W All black and white presets. B1, B5, X1.
Folder: Bright High-key and airy presets. S2, S4, F1.
This system means you can navigate to the right category in one tap and find the specific preset in under 5 seconds.
How many presets to keep active
Keep only the presets you actually use in your active folders. Move everything else to an archive group called "Archive" or "Unused." The active library should have no more than 15-20 presets across all folders.
More presets does not mean better editing. It means slower navigation and more decision fatigue.
FAQ
Can I sync my preset organization from desktop to mobile?
Preset folders synced from Lightroom Classic maintain their organization on mobile. Create folders on desktop and they appear the same way in Lightroom Mobile after syncing.
Can I delete a preset I no longer use?
Yes. Long press the preset and select Delete. This removes it from your library. The original DNG file is not affected — you can reinstall it later if needed.
